The harmonious blend of warm oil and calamus powder (Acorus Calamus, an Indian, wetland plant in the sweetflag family) creates a delightful exfoliating sensation, improving circulation while warming up the tissues, and intensifying the benefits of the massage.
AYM nurtures the nervous system, allowing the client to descend deeply into relaxation, aligning the internal elements of earth, water, fire, air, and ether.
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage offers a journey to a tranquil realm.
The treatment is performed on a massage futon on the floor. Here, the client can surrender into the support of the earth beneath them, providing the practitioner with a grounded ease of fluid movement, skilfully controlling body weight and pressure, employing hands, elbows, forearms, knees, and feet, much like a choreographer crafting a symphony of relaxation and wellbeing.
This treatment is entirely personalised and client-led. Similar to my approach to teaching yoga, it revolves around the awareness of the individual as a whole. We collaborate to determine what is needed and where the most significant benefits lie. Sometimes, the focus may be on areas with injuries or pain, while other times, we might emphasize breath and the concept of ‘letting go.’ In all cases, we work with the entire body, recognising its interconnectedness through the nervous system, fascia, circulation, and movement patterns.
As a Reiki practitioner, AYM can be infused with this beautiful energetic work. I may pause during the massage to connect with Reiki energy as I feel called to do so. This integration enhances the magic of this art form, making it a truly unique and holistic experience.
